The questions of creating content for your blog comes first when you start a new blog. Even if you have defined your niche, done with brainstorming and mind mapping for the best fit keywords,
you still have to strategically use the art of expressing yourself through your words.
Words that bring value, information and portrays your capability as well as authenticity in writing your blog posts.
This is one common problem for almost all newbie and in fact many intermediate bloggers who tend to get lost in between their blog journey.
For those who are reading this blogpost for the first time can check out how to create a blog before they start creating content.
While it’s easy to phrase the term “Content is King”, its not to easy to explain “Which kind of content is the King? Or “ What type of content can BE the king for google?”
You will find bloggers that populate their blog by producing extensive content for boosting traffic but….
I would like to say it out loud that its not just content rather authentic + quality content that matters most for every blog. (Even if it’s just a new blog)
Don’t fill up your blog with content only ! Add value and uniqueness
I will give you an example of a course+ebook that I recently completed by Suzi Whitford, Blog by number. The lady is a mom blogger who was able to earn more than $50,000 within year by just providing quality content since the very beginning.
From her 480 facebook groups to her recent 8000+ blog post title ideas freebie(now that’s a lot), she come up with everything that bring in more value to other mom bloggers.
The following points will guide you what kind of content should you create for your blog to generate loyal readers.
- Value addition in your blog post
- Creating a Plot
- Importance of word-count
- The appropriate language to use
Table of content
Value addition in your blog post
If you tend to blog for the sake of writing about your own personal life than considering this point of providing value wouldn’t matter.
However, if the purpose of your blog is to have passive income than you ought to provide value in your blog in the form of :
1) Providing information in the form of tutorials, how to guides etc
2) Round up posts or list posts
3) Discussing strategies, road maps and guidelines
4) Writing about entertainment, event, or seasonal posts (christmas, eid etc)
5) Writing about a specific problem associated to your niche.
6) Discussing your personal experiences of tools, books and softwares you have used along the blog journey.
All these posts are one way of the other providing value to your readers. It completely depends on you to write with the right knowledge that you have in your domain.
Creating a Plot
When I was new to blogging, I came across mom bloggers who wrote content filled with emotions and affection toward the experiences of motherhood. Yes , it was natural and it had value as well.
But there was one thing that I couldn’t figure in my first year of blogging ….
and that was the ability to create a story line or plot that fits in with my content.
Successful mom bloggers had the ability to write emotional copyright ups that persuaded thousand of reader to trust their products and suggestions which as a result earned them thousand of dollars. Check Busy Budgeters blog and subscribe to her emails to see how transparent she is in expressing herself.
This is just an example of what a story plot content can do. Not only does it gains your trust but also wins your heart !
You begin to feel the genuineness of the blogger and the kind of one-to-one feeling it has , especially when it comes to email marketing (more than that later)
The importance of word counts
Here comes Google and Search engine optimization. I am sure almost all bloggers including the newbies know that writing longer valuable posts are given more weightage compared to those that are precise and short.
So, it is not only important to have a sound knowledge of your domain but also a good length of explanation towards it.
The questions here is “What is the appropriate length?”
- 1000 words is good
- 2000 words is better than other bloggers
- 3000 – 4000 is recommended if you want google to know you in the first few pages.
- 6000 – 8000 Google will know you and get you ahead of others but readers will save you to read later.
Meera kothands The Blog startup ebook would be good source for you to go through if you would want to know how she begin to earn with less than 1000 blog traffic.
The appropriate language to use
Oh ! English, my non-native language that gave me hard time when I wanted to find the reason of not having enough traffic even after having more than 50+ valuable long posts.
I came to know when I asked a native english speaker in a facebook group to audit my blog and the first thing she noticed in my pop-up was grammar mistakes.
After which, I had to hire an editor to proofread all my existing posts which costed me more than I was earning.
A structured as well as a simple english without grammatical mistakes would suffice for your blog.
If you are a non- native english speaker, hire an editor and go through your blog post twice with a gap of a few hours until you hit the publish button.
Trust me ! every time re-read the same post you will still find errors that you must have skipped while proofreading the first time.
The easiest way to get through this problem is to hire a freelance editor in Fiver for $5-$10.
